There's one thing noone seems to suspect:  the world's most evil figures, from Aleister to Mephistopheles, all simply walk right into a good person's life to do it (harm them) themselves.  They wouldn't have the power to control your fears - unimaginably real in the wrong order to you all but nowhere's near infinite - yet - with hoardes of horrors bought off by the ultimate prize otherwise.
