My d. (daughter) has always had a tender heart, a heart for the down and out, and it is exciting to see God work through her
This week there was an incident that I could see God using that tender heart. She had gone downtown for a job interview. She had prayed if the job wasn't for her for God to make it plain to her and He did. She wasn't ready to work that far away from the kids and other reasons. So she was driving home thinking of her day wasted and going through a rough area of town. She was talking to me on the phone and exclaimed, " Oh Mom, there is a mom and three little children standing in the rain at the bus stop and homeless men wandering all around her."
Being the spiritual example that I am, I quickly said, "Don't let them in the car with you. You don't know anything about them." She said "I won't" then I heard, "Ma'am, are you okay?" In her ear, I am reminding her again, "it could be a trick". She said "let me call you back" and I am saying no as she hangs up (you never quit being a mother).
When she called me back (and I can get off my knees praying in Costco--not really but I should have) she had the lady's story. She was catching a bus to the store for milk. So my d. told her to stay there and was would get the milk and bring it back. She found out the lady and 7 children are from a small town in a northern state and was here for one child to have a kidney transplant. The mom was making trips for post-treatments for the child during the month of March and the husband had to stay up north and work.
That night my d. tried to order pizza for them because she was worried about if they had dinner. No one would deliver in that area. So her husband took the pizzas to their place and his heart got in picture also. We have since helped them out with some money and supplies. But here is the great part---my d. was talking to her and the woman asked where she went to church. She told her and the woman said she would like to find one nearby she could attend.
They will be picking her this Sunday and taking her and her 7 to their church. They have a Bible to give to her. Pray for this family and for everyone's protection.
That job interview wasn't by accident. God knew of a tender heart and used it for His glory.
Eph. 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do."
(From Beth Moore-Fruits of the Spirit)--Our works were assigned in advance. He saved us and left us here because He has work, very specific work. He has a mission to accomplish for kingdom gain in every generation all planned in advance & perfectly timed. If we miss our ministry, we will miss our entire purpose in remaining here.
